Followership workshop at CUFE

We at CUFE were thrilled to have Prof. Jibrael Jose presiding over the leadership workshop. Moreover it was fun. There have been some incredible, positive, outcomes from the workshops. We started off the workshop as being the quieter ones, normally ended up being the ones to charge over planning the group activities. The transformational idea from leadership to followership was the core that made the part. The explanation about, why followership rather than leadership was to the point. The things that we wrote in the paper in the beginning of the session about our weakness, strengths etc. gave us a more wide perspective to think about ourselves and was a self-actualization practice. Since he said, he is not going to take the paper back; we were able to write it without any hesitation and worries. The icebreaker session was fun to do with and without convincing what a team job is, he made us to do the team work in time. The only thing we couldn’t come to a conclusion was about the “million dollar problem”. The Theatrical exercise gave us more confidence and we could feel the positive energy and enthusiasm fuming among us. The scenes we acted gave us a self-realization that how good we are expressing ourselves to others. It was more fun and learning combined in a perfect proportion. The most interesting and much awaited part of the session was the afternoon session. The fun with the wooden bricks and tactics in building the tallest structure was overwhelming. This team activity was more than a competition as we could feel the team spirit and encouragement that was emerging from the members, the same spirit as members were reduced each time. Since the idea of "building a cricket stadium" was being given earlier, we were fully planned. As being computer science students, it’s the first time in our college life we were facing this kind of a challenge which was not part of our stream. But we managed to do it because of the well planned execution of the team. Finally we departed with setting our goals in our mind. On the whole, the followership workshop was a new wonderful experience to all of us. A big thanks to Prof. Jibrael Jose for taking the effort to come to CUFE and making it happen.
